Emergency First Aid: What To Do Before You Reach Our Manhattan Office

• Remain calm and reassure your child
• Pick up the tooth by the crown (the white part), never touch the root
• Quickly rinse it with milk or saliva if dirty (don’t scrub or use soap)
• If possible, gently place the tooth back in its socket and have your child bite on clean gauze
• If you can’t reinsert it, place the tooth in cold milk, saliva, or a tooth preservation kit
• Call us immediately and head to our Manhattan office within 30 minutes for the best chance of saving the tooth

• Rinse your child’s mouth with lukewarm water to clean the area
• Apply a cold compress to the face to minimize swelling
